Happy New Year folks

Indeed a very Happy New Year to everyone!

Have you made any brilliant New Year's resolutions? I used to try to make some up years ago and I fully intended on sticking by it till the harsh reality that there would be 364 other days in the days in which I would have to make the same struggle and those resolutions went flying out of the window.

This year, I'm making the rules simple - I just wanna play harder, lover harder  (that sounds wrong but it's not in the way you think! lol! Get your minds out of the gutter....lol!) and and work harder... nah, work did not make it into my New Year's resolution this year. Don't get me wrong, I wanna do well at work but its not like I don't already work hard so not, that is not making it to my list.

Anyway, those are my resolutions. They oughta be easy enough (and fun enough) to stick to don't you think?

Loooooooooooong time!

Hiya everyone! So sorry for  not blogging in a while! Been so hectic with all the Christmas parties and then the Christmas shopping and then I just pretty much went into hibernation mode from eating so much!!! Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!

Okay, so quick Christmas party update! I've been left with such an ego boost! I found out that 5 guys (yes 5!!!!!) fancy me at work. Okay, we might all have been pretty drunk at the time but I'm just gonna take that one! lol! Nothing wrong with a little flattery, not matter how drunk the giver or recipient were.

One little confession though, there was a cheeky mistletoe-related kiss with one of said 5 people! It's so weird right, before this night, we'd always flirted but never anything serious and it kinda just upped itself a notch on the night. All in all, it was a great night! Considering how much we'd all had to drink (free bar - you know the drill...)

So glad I wasn't the girl who ended up being sick in the bathrooms though! I shudder to think of how awkward she felt the next time she had to go into the office.

Anyway, I've decided I have to blog more frequently! I've been really bad with blogging lately and I'm gonna try to do it more frequently. No matter how brief it is. That's my New year resolution... that and eat less cake... and exercise more... and drink less...

Later folks!

AND A HUGE HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!! ALL THE BEST IN 2012!

Last Minute Lola

Finally time for the main office Christmas party! I've been running around like a headless chicken all day trying to find an outfit to wear! Is it sad that I took a day off to look for an outfit for an office Christmas party? Probably...lol! But I refuse to have a repeat of what happened last time I was invited to a formal event. For anyone who missed it, just carry on scrolling till you hit the next post. Plus, this is my first time attending this specific party so I wanna make a good impression... at least until I've had a few glasses of bubbly (or white wine... truth be told, I'm not fussed about which one I get, I just need to kick back and have fun tonight!).

I'm gonna have to catch you all on the goings on later. Right now, I'm taking a quick break and then I'm going to look for shoes now. How do I manage to leave things till the last minute? Aacck!!!

Let the Christmas (party) season commence!!!

Hi folks,

This last week at work has been so stressful and busy but it’s the run up to Christmas and as you can imagine – the start of the many work (and personal) Christmas parties I’m due to attend. This time last year, I wasn’t exactly doing the most glamorous of jobs back in Wales (see here) so its fair to say the Christmas party I attended last year wasn’t as much a Christmas party as it was an excuse to get drunk and give my liver a good battering.

A bit of a sidetrack here but I just remembered that I’ve not even begun Christmas shopping yet. I do tend to leave it till the last minute anyway so there’s nothing out of the ordinary there but for some reason, I’m starting to stress about it. I say stress but it’s more like I remember every three days that I’ve still not started and I try to look on Amazon/Selfridges/Play.com and eventually get distracted by the shoes or bags, which I end up never buying. It’s a vicious cycle.

Anyway, after a stressful week, I was looking forward to one of many Christmas parties and it was going to be a laid back event with lots of friends and promised to be a good night. I showed up at the event which was pretty swanky in my old jeans, heels, and a Beatles shirt I got from a thrift shop in Camden and a nice little jacket (lazy and laid back – just how I like it! lol) and I felt like the bees knees… until I walked into the room and realised it was a black tie event! Oh the shame... *shakes head* I literally have no idea how this happened.

I’m not the kind of person that doesn’t take dress codes seriously and I even asked a few times this week about what the dress code for the event was! It was so cliché I just couldn’t help but laugh (not all out crazy laughter – more like an inside laughter) I already looked out of place standing at the entrance of the venue dressed like I was going to a concert or off to do my laundry - there was no way I was going to let people think I was crazy as well.

I looked at my invitation, which made no mention of a dress code thought it did mention a champagne reception and a nice 5 course meal. Retrospectively, the fact that it was a 5 course meal should have sent alarm bells ringing in my head but hey ho… After about a minute of laughing and trying to compose my self, I decided there was only one thing to do – go in there, have a great time and drink my faux pas away! I did get a few (okay, more than ‘a few’) strange looks but all in all, it ended up being a fantastic night!

Pros and cons of the “Thursday office party"

Pros:-
Getting to leave work early. Whatever the excuse is leaving work early is always a big plus!
Free bar – need I say more?!
…Okay, past the above two points, I’m kinda struggling here.
Cons
Friday morning hangovers...*bleurgh!*  Hangovers should be spent in bed, not at your desk in front of your computer pretending to work and doing anything to get rid of that gnawing feeling in your head.
Ridiculous end of the week meetings.  I’ve somehow developed the ability to nod and smile while tuning out everything that’s being said to me.
Too sick to drink coffee and too tired to stay awake. There’s no winning with this situation.-  Other people who were out with you and seemed as drunk as you were but are somehow absolutely fine on Friday – and they insist on showing this off!
Unlike the above, I actually went back to work still drunk (the hangover slowly and surely in a few hours) and once I found myself almost going to kiss my director (at 8.30am!) I figured it was probably time to go to the loo and have a little sober-up-nap else I was pretty sure I’d be jobless by the end of the day. Official verdict – I detest “Thursday office parties”!

My weekend in pictures

Another Monday... another week of work... Why do the weekends fly by so fast! Okay, I'm being kinda lazy here but instead of putting my weekend in words, my next few posts are gonna be in pictures...
So it looks like everyone's out tonight....
Real teeth in the table at some club (I honestly can't remember the name of this place!)
View from the club (in retrospect, this must have been a pretty central club/bar... Alcohol is bad for your memory)
Desserted random room upstairs I stumbled on by accident
And so on Saturday...
 Walked past St Paul's
 Stumbled across the invisible man...
London bridge (looks iconic in the distance - accompanied with typical 'London' rain clouds)
View of St Paul's from Millenium Bridge
And ended the afternoon with a yummy meal from Wasabi...(delish!)

So what did I get up to over the weekend?

I’ll let you see for yourself! It was so much fun and a fantastic coincidence as it turns out it was gay pride on Saturday so there was a massive street party in central London already and we arrived there just in time to join in!

Start of the night!

Filthy street!!! The party's already underway...
We could barely move through the crowd
Mmmm... Saucy! Stepped in for a sneaky peek... (I was quite drunk by this point I might add.
A big fear of mine - broken iphone (okay, that's just the case but I imagine the phone can't look too good if the case's that broken)
Random reveller who absolutely loved the camera
Drunk. Fallen. Over.
At the club
On the way home in the morning... Half asleep at this point! (But with my McDonalds help me fight 'future hangover')
So on Sunday, I went to see Janet Jackson in concert! She was amazing!!!
The concert was in the Royal Albert Hall however there was an intermission half way through (what's that about?!?!)
Headed back home and saw a guy with the shortest short shorts!

And that's about it!!! Another weekend that left me aching (physically)... So, what did you guys get up to last weekend?

Take That! Figuratively and Literally!!!

Right! Been a minute since I last blogged but in fairness to me, I’ve had a packed week!!! I barely even had time to fit in some partying (I was starting to get alcohol withdrawal here) but I found a way to eventually!  (Woohoo! My feet and liver hate me now but hey, who cares?!)
I’ve had the most unexpected of weeks ever though – I went to a Take That concert AND loved it! (I was not expecting that at all!) I mean, I like some Take That songs and all but I’ve never ‘officially’ been a fan. (I am now!). On the night, I did some serious ‘Panadol Dancing’ too – you know, the kind of dancing where you already know you’re gonna need painkillers for the following day. The Take That magic was fully on, complete with retro boyband dance moves, -it was such a throwback to the 90s! *cue wind machine and guys with unbuttoned  shirts*. And in random concert news - there was some random drunk 60 year old woman (priceless!) who had to be escorted out cos she could barely stand, some girl fainted in the crowd right in front of me (over-excited much?) and some other random girl took her top off (like - everything!) and the cameras on stage zoomed in on her! Hehehe! (Die-hard fan? Or just really drunk? *shrugs* Who knows?)
AND (big ‘and’!) I got to meet Cameron Diaz! Yes, (in my head) from now on I’m officially a ‘celebrity-by-association’. (Boy do I wish!!!). When I walk into my local Tesco next time, I’m gonna ask for a personal shopper… It’s what I deserve dammit J – and if the shopper dares to look me in the eye, I’m throwing my phone at her (actually, scratch that, I can’t afford a new phone). (For those who haven’t cotton on, I’m just kidding! I did meet Cameron Diaz though!)
And, who should knock on my door today but ‘le hunky New Zealander’(see here)…Yes, since my trip to Paris (see here) I speak French now… Hehehe! For those who aren’t as well versed in French like I obviously am, that translates to “the hunky New Zealander” (try saying New Zealander when you’re drunk…Mouthful, much?). Anyway, he came over to ask me out on a date… Okay, that might be wishful thinking on my part there and a weeeeeeeeeee exaggeration/lie! Hehehe! He did come over but to ask my flatmate and I to come over for his house warming party. I was feeling all special and sexy…till I heard him knock on the next door and invite them over too! Ouch!!! Anyway, I’m (kinda) still in the game (I think) and seeing as I’m not one to say no to a party (who in their right mind ever does?), what’s a girl to do but attend a neighbour’s housewarming when invited? In the meanwhile, enjoy the pictures from the show below
(N.B. I took these photos with my phone so they’re not the best quality!)
Concert Stage

Pet Shop Boys did the warm up
Howard, Jason, Mark and Gary came on first

And then Robbie...

The boys all got together

We got some confetti

And a giant caterpillar

And some 'fire-play'

And (in several stages) the huge giant man stood up by the end of the concert! Amazing!

And the MAIN HIGHLIGHT from the show –
- Robbie ripped his pants during the first song…(and that’s not all…) He then went over the crowd showing off what was underneath the ripped pants and finally HE TOOK HIS PANTS OFF! *faints* *swoons* The concert got interesting for me from this point on… I definitely fell in love a little here.  I was so excited I couldn’t even take a proper photo! *hangs head in shame*
Anyway, it’s getting late now and I’m off to go listen to some more Take That songs and dream of my Take That boys… Good night folks

Ode to a crazy night

Just had a flashback to one of my first Saturday mornings in London with 4 hung-over friends. We’d been out the night before and had very little recollection of what had happened that night. I mean, I remember getting ready to meet two of our other friends in town, I remember making margaritas, not from scratch of course. From one of those “ready-mix-just-add-tequila” stuff. I also remember quickly running out of margaritas and switching to the whisky (yuck!), vodka (yay!) and gin. Needless to say, in less than an hour, we were already pretty giggly and by the time we’d met up with our friends in Shoreditch, we were absolutely shit-faced. From this point on every thing was a blur. Anyway, the next morning, each of us woke up with battle scars and our faces stretched so hard frm constantly laughing. I mean my breasts were so sore, Friend 1 had a very sore nose, Friend 2 has lost her bra, Friend 3 had a sore bum and back and Friend 5 had lost his phone (Oh the horror!). We soon put the pieces together -
- My sore breasts: turns out I had insisted on doing star-jumps throughout the night to show people how good I was at them (or something of the sort) and all the vigorous jumping without a sports bra has obviously led to my “battle scars”...
- Sore nose: this was the result of a very childish school prank (which always seem hilarious when you’re drunk regardless of how lame they actually are). In said game, you pretended to pick something from your friend’s pocket and show it to them, then when they’re not expecting it and still trying to look at what you’ve got in your hands, you smack them right in the face. (Hilarious for everyone but the person who gets smacked.)
- Lost bra: Easy! This was traded off for a hat.(Make whatever character assumption you will of my friend here but it was a very dapper hat! She reasoned she had lots of bras anyway but no dapper hats.
Sore bum and back: Well, that’s what you get for insisting of giving people piggyback rides and then tripping and falling over while carrying said person. Another hilarious moment for all but the people involved…. Actually, scratch that, photo evidence suggests this was a hilarious moment for all! Why do things seem so much funnier when you’re drunk?
Lost phone: No brainer really! That is if you’re not trying to think with a hangover. After phone calls to the club and the taxi company and general state of panic/worry/alert for just over an hour, Friend 2 had the brilliant idea of trying to call the phone and turns out, it was just wedged in the sofa. *I hang my head in shame*
And then, we called the other two friends (hoping to hear they sounded as bad as we did, and to our delight, they did!) In retrospect, I probably shouldn’t have made that call because a torrent of painful and embarrassing flashback came flooding right back! Namely;
- Me attempting to pole dance on a lamppost
- Me pinching random guy’s and girl’s bum while waiting to get served at the bar and then throwing dirty looks at some strangers (or at my friends) and pretending they did it. I could have gotten in so much trouble for this but it was sooooooo worth it!
- Me asking people to grope my breasts and feel how pert they were (holy goodness, why?!!! And why did no one stop me?!!!) Actually, this might explain the sore breasts…
- Friend 2 trying to “surf the crowd” and landing flat on her ass (which might also explain the sore nose)…
- Several mock sexual positions while on the toilet queue (No judgement here people… I’m sure I’ve seen worse from people on the dance floor.)
- A certain friend walking right into a glass door – Priceless!!!

I’d list more but I’ve just very suddenly had to step away from my laptop. A distraction in the form of JLS has just appeared on my TV and I’m afraid I can no longer continue… Mmmm.... *licks lips* Is it wrong to watch a boy-band just because they’re cute? I can’t even hear what they’re singing about (love, cars, girls or cheese for all I care). I’m distracted by them and I’m just going to surrender myself to the hotness… Catch you later
