Halloween Lunch

Hey people! Happy Bonfire Night folks! Well technically, that isn’t till later in the day but hey ho….

Anyway, so last weekend, I went out for lunch with some kinda old definitely-semi-friends and we had a grand old time catching up on what we’ve all been up to. Actually, I say catching up but it was more like showing off. By the end of it, I was kinda exhausted because it felt like I had been in a strenuous competition to see who had done the most exciting stuff or achieved the most since we last saw each other. That is one lunch date I’m not gonna be rushing into again... lol!

So after the lunch date, I figured I’d indulge in some Halloween shopping. I went hunting for inspiration for my costume. I’m so last minute with these things and so I was going to go with the first thing I found. Last minute and lazy. Its Halloween for goodness sakes! Its not like you’re supposed to take it too seriously. I promise to get better with the shopping at Christmas!

Anyway, so I finally found a fancy dress shop (Ting-Ting-Ting Jackpot!!! I could get all I needed from one place instead of having to trawl through the whole of Westfield for different items). So I got some face-paint, a snow white costume and some contact lenses (I decided to go as an undead-yet-dead snow white – don’t judge, I know what a rubbish costume this seems like in theory but in my head, this would be an absolutely genius idea once all put together – after a vigorous backcombing of my hair of course!) Somewhere in between this:

And this:

Anyway, shopping done! Time to go home, chill out and then get ready for the party. On my way back, I noticed quite a few admiring stares from people and I was thinking, “Damn, my military wrap dress and hooker heels were really paying off” (all 6 inches of them! Okay, they’re not really hooker heels but that’s what I like to refer to them as). I pretended not to notice and yet was showing off for my admirers. I even put on my sunglasses so I could check out the people who were checking me out without them noticing that I was checking them out. (Oh please!!! LOL! Don’t judge me - I’m sure we’ve all checked out people behind our sunglasses, perfectly pleased that they couldn’t see that we were checking them out!)

Needless to say, by the time I got home, I was on a high – “Damn, I’m hot!” I was thinking…. Till I caught a reflection of myself in my sunglasses as I was taking them off. Turns out I had some face-paint smudged on my face the entire time (dear goodness, I really really REALLY hope it was face-paint!)… OH THE HORROR! Oh the shame….*shakes head* Fingers crossed people may have thought that I was dressed up early for Halloween? One can only hope! Haha! *shakes head*

Case of the ex

Hi everyone… September has been so hectic you would not believe!  So I mentioned in my last post (see here) that I was gonna be meeting up with my ex who was visiting London. Thankfully I was able to get out of work on time to meet up with him and it was a strangely surreal yet insightful experience. Basically, I haven’t seen him properly since I left Wales so I was worried it would be awkward and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very far from this. We had a good catch up over dinner and it was so nice to hang out with him. I was having such a great time with him that I actually kinda started having slight “I-miss-you pangs”. When we were together we’d had such a laugh…*sigh*

After dinner we decided to go to a bar for a few drinks and on the walk over to the bar he broke the bombshell to me. He was engaged to be married. The girl is someone I knew from home, nice girl (the sort that would make a great wife – whatever that mean… *scratches head* lol). I was pleased for him (and her too, I guess). I congratulated him and did the usual spiel you do when a friend tells you they’re engaged… Wish them well….etc…Definitely not screaming out loud “Oh Damn!!! When will it be my turn!!!”…Hehehe! Truth be told, I’m not that fascinated with getting married soon. I will eventually but right now, I’m absolutely happy with where I am because its where I wanna be (that almost sounded like I was trying to convince myself! Lol!)

Anyway, as the evening progressed, we keep on swapping war stories about our little old town and then (get this!)… he leans in to kiss me. I SOOOOOOOO DIDN’T SEE THAT ONE COMING! I dodged the kiss like a turkey would (or rather, should) dodge the farmer at Christmas time. I simply refuse to be that girl. Don’t get me wrong, whatever anyone does with someone else is their prerogative (we’re all adults here) but it’s just not for me. The only married (or almost married) man I’d ever hook up with no guilt or regret would be Brad Pitt (Yes, after all these years I still have a HUGE crush on him. In fact, I think it’s bigger than a crush – he may just be the one. Lol! He’ll always have a special place in my heart… hehehehehe!)…. Lets all take a minute to enjoy his awesomeness…

Right, so where was I? Yeah, he tried to kiss me and I swear any “I-miss-you pangs” went in that instant. He’s a great lad but come on! I didn’t know whether to be insulted or flattered (insulted because he did exactly the same thing to me when we were together, flattered because well, I’m obviously so irresistible to him – LOL! I’m kidding!!!! I don’t have an ego that inflated!) Anyway, I made it very clear where I stood and that I wished him the best but he had to get his sh*t together. He went on and on about how confused he was seeing me here and having such a great time… bla bla bla! Honestly, I tuned out after a while (I have a special talent for tuning out!). I just don’t buy stories like that. Getting with someone else is not a way to sort out ones problem – in fact, it more than likely just adds to the problem. After a few minutes I made my excuses and left.

I have to admit, I did leave with a somewhat inappropriate sense of exhilaration – Good riddance, eh!!!

Oh and because this post wouldn’t be complete without a phone picture of what I had for dinner I had to add the picture below! Lol! Okay, it would have been complete but I’ve been eating healthy lately and I just had to show it off!!!

Catch ya later folks!

Festival and Cocktails

So I mentioned in my previous post (see here), that I was going to the Thames Festival in London (Yes, I did confirm that's what its actually called - The Thames Festival). It was fantastic! I found a new place that did two for one cocktails too! (I love finding fantastic cocktails on offer!) I had an amazing Strawberry Daiquiri while sat on the embankment, watching the procession which finished off with fireworks. Great (and not to mention - cheap) evening out in London! And I took some pictures - Warning: I took these with my phone and the quality is......er...not so good.
Till next time...

Lazy weekend

Oh-Dear-Goodness!!! *sigh* This has been another hectic week! I was so knackered by the Thursday, I actually said ‘Thank you’ to the coffee vending machine. In all fairness to me, this was preceded by a gargantuan fight against drowsiness, which eventually saw me head-butting my computer screen. Thankfully, I got to finish early on Friday but all I just wanted to do was go to sleep by the time I was done.

In other news, it’s the Thames Festival in London this weekend… at least, I think that’s what it’s called!. Well, whatever it’s a huge street party and I plan on breaking out of my pajamas this weekend and going into town to see what’s going on. I heard the fireworks last year were amazing and I’ve arranged a meeting with friends for drinks and dinner.

Also, I got a call of my old boyfriend, Thom (see here), turns out he’s heading to London for a couple of days next week and wants to meet up – and NO, not in the way you’re thinking, just as friends. I’m not one to hold grudges (too much effort!) though I will blame my sleep-drought this week on the fact that we’ll be meeting up for dinner when he’s in town. I’m starting to feel like a true Londoner now – showing the out-of-towners around. I’ll keep you all posted.
And No! There’ll be none of this…lol!

These are a few of my favourite things... Another installment!

This has been a truly indulgent weekend! I’ve been making the most of the bank holidays by being really lazy and so I figured I’d put together a list of the things I’m currently obsessing over. Okay, maybe obsessing is a tad too serious but you get the general idea…
1.) iMac – I’m an ‘Apple-head’. I’m pretty happy with my MacBook Pro but since using one of these at my friend’s the other day, I’ve been crazy about it! I’d have to get the largest one ever and rationalise this purchase by claiming that its both a computer (a powerful one at that) and a TV. See, I’m thinking ahead! Okay, that is some poor rationalisation but I think I deserve this. I now have to spend some time thinking of reasons why I deserve this... *scratches head*
2.) Hanging Chairs – I mean look at them! I could so see my bum permanently glued to them… Someone please buy me one! :-)
3.) Love tub – Discovered these at Waitrose recently. One word – AMAZING!
4.) Big Dorset Louboutins – like I was really gonna do a favourite things posts without shoes! lol! (Apologies, I’ve been going through a Louboutin phase for the last couple of months)
5.) Easy A – I love this movie. Emma Stone is amazingly funny in it! Just got the DVD and I’ve spent the best part of a week LOL-ing at it. *sings* “I’ve got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine…”
6.) Nerds – Just in case I never mentioned it before – I’ve got a major sweet tooth! And with the rainbow of colours…er… SOLD! This is how my love of colour manifests itself – not, in creative interior decoration or fashion (or something useful!), Oh no, just in my sweet tooth indulgence! *shakes head*
7.) Joe Manganiello a.k.a Alcide Herveaux from True Blood – D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Is Sookie blind or something?! LOL! Okay, the other two are great in their own way but Joe is my 100% beefcake! Yum!!!
8.) Denim short shorts – This is probably my way of refusing to acknowledge that summer will over soon. I don’t want it to end. *sobs* I’m never letting go!
9.) Shunt – I’ve been obsessing about this because I miss it! When I used to go it was in this amazing hidden location smack in the centre of London – a dis-used underground station near London Bridge. They had everything there - airplane seats, a Wii room, art installation rooms, salsa room, empty rooms, light pianos, live bands. So many tiny little nooks and crannies everywhere. Such an arty and amazing night out. Loved it. BRING IT BACK!
10.) Borough Market – You can get almost anything here. I love that about it. I love browsing at Borough market – most times because browsing usually ends up leading to unexpected purchases!

That’s it! I’ve got so much to tell you guys by the way, which I fully intend on doing very soon! So much has happened and I can’t wait to share it!!! Till next time...

Tequila Surprise

I just had a look on my phone and realised I’d taken some photos from my 'Tequila-soaked' Friday evening. I met up with my friends for drinks in Canary Wharf and we stumbled on some Jazz Festival . It looked pretty nice and outdoorsy so I assume that’s why I took a photo of it? (I can’t remember – I was pretty “merry” (i.e. drunk) at this point)
We went from some ‘liquid dinner’ (accompanied by actual dinner, not to worry) in a Mexican restaurant and had a Tequila surprise i.e. several shots of Tequila and some red drink - which we were told was Sangria but tasted like a Bloody Mary, maybe that was the surprise! Anyway, it was amazing… I think! To be honest, it’s tequila – it’s as ‘amazing’ (or not) as tequila gets.... lol! I shoulda stopped at just one but we went for a few…
As we stumbled off home it turns out I took another photo… In retrospect, I’m glad I used my phone to take photos instead of sending drunk text messages, lol - that never ends well!

Quick Dinner

So the other day I met up with friends for drinks and a catch-up and in between bars, we stumbled on a random restaurant where you get to select different stuff and have them cooked for you. I just love the fact that the food is cooked right in front of you! There's something special about seeing everything flambĂ©ed!
And of course I had to finish off with dessert!!! Yum!!!

Art - Part 2

And so as mentioned in the previous post here, this is the second installment of my 'arty-farty' day in London at the weekend. Enjoy!
Where the heck am I supposed to plug that into? :-)
Yes, I know what you're thinking - and yes, it is art too...
 And this one too...

Guerilla girls... (this made me giggle a little bit. I must not be 'political' enough but I found it a tad amusing - okay, I'll admit, I'll laugh at anything. My humour threshold is preeeeeetty low)
More guerilla girls

London Panorama

And that's all folks!!! Got lots to write about as some major developments have occured *cough* *cough* and I'll have to dish in my next post! Let's just say I'm on cloud 9 at the moment... Hehehe! *wink*. Catch you soon...
